Three Lessons I Want My Children to Learn from Me

If I ever have children, I would like to think that I would be able to teach them more than three lessons but here are the three I feel are the most important.

1.Be  Kind to Animals

This was one of the criteria to win my heart also. So I think it is clear that animals are important to me. To me, it is important to remember that the animals on our planet have just as much, maybe even more of a right to live their life. While they may not be as intelligent as us humans, they have every right to live on our planet. They just can’t justify their existence with words like we can.

Therefore, I would love to teach my children to be respectful and kind to all animals, no matter how bad their reputation is. Yet still be aware of the danger of wild animals.

2.Be Considerate of Others

I live my life trying to be kind and considerate to other people. That is not to say that I always succeed. I do not make fun of or judge people based on their sexual orientation, race, sex or other things. I get to know the person under all these tiny things and then make my judgement based on that. Of course there are people that irk me faster than others, but even then I try and be considerate and nice even though I don’t like them.

I would love for my children to learn that no matter where the people they meet come from or who they are or what they believe, they are still people and should be treated as such.

3. Money isn’t Everything

My family isn’t rolling in the money, so I’ve learned in my life that money isn’t everything. I had a happy childhood even though I didn’t have all the latest toys and gadgets.

I hope that my children would learn from me that money does not equal happiness. You can be happy without everything that money can buy. Material things don’t mean happiness.  You can have everything you can imagine and still be miserable.

These three are the important lessons I would hope I would be able to teach my (hypothetical) children.

Animals and Plants

This time I’m supposed to write about something I feel strongly about. And that something is how we should treat our environment and animals.

Like some who have read my previous writing may know, I love animals and nature. I love walking around in nature. I also have strong opinions about how we as humans treat certain animals.

I think all of us should take into consideration that Earth is not just OUR home. There are billions of other creatures that also call earth their own. So why should WE be the ones to decide how to treat this shared planet? Don’t the animals and plants have any say? In our society, they do not.

I try to make my decisions based on how they affect the world, and especially the animals and plants around me. While I cannot always make those choices, I try and make them as often as I can.

So, I would like to challenge you to do the same. Let’s make the world a better place for us and the creatures and plants around us together.

Five Ways to Win My Heart

1.Be Kind to Animals

I love animals, as people who have followed me for some time should know. A sure fire way to win my heart would be to love animals and be kind to them. Because let’s be real, if I have to choose between Tintti, my beloved cat, and a potential significant other, Tintti wins paws down. I understand that not all people like animals, but for me animals are something that will be a part of my life forever, whether they be mine of my family’s, so no animal-haters for me. Show me that you appreciate those who do not have their own voice and you’re golden.

And my love does not end with pets, I love all animals, so if you think that wolves, sharks or any other animals should have no right to live where we live, then you can say goodbye to the hopes of ever getting my affections.

2.Buy Me the Correct Kind of Books

I love reading and a surefire way to win my affections would be to buy me a book I like. Not even my family members buy me books without asking me first. I would love nothing more than for someone to know me so well that they did not need to ask me what book I would like. Or at least listen to me prattling about my favorite books or book series enough to know which books I have and don’t have and be able to buy me some that I am missing.

So, a way to this girls heart is through books.

3. Play an instrument

I can not play any instruments so I appreciate the time and effort it takes to learn to play something. While this is not a requirement for a significant other for me, it is a huge plus. Any instrument is fine and I would love to hear them play.

To be honest, this probably has its roots in my childhood and one of my favorite tv-shows, Digimon. My favorite character was Yamato, who played the harmonica. This created for me the ultimate fascination for people who can play instruments ans I have always found people who can play something attractive and interesting.

4. Not To Tie Me Down

I am a free spirit. I love doing things at the spur of the moment. I would love to travel a lot in the future. What I want is a person who understands this and does not try to tie me down to one place. Best would be if they would love to travel with me, but if they don’t I would hope that they loved me enough to let me travel as much as I want to. Besides, I have grown used to the fact that I can come and go as I please, so I would never ask for permission to do so.

5. Understand That Being A Nerd Is A Huge Part Of My Life

I am not ashamed to admit that I am a huge nerd. It is a part of me so why should I? If you can’t understand that, then you ain’t worth my attention. I may spend a whole day watching my favorite shows or playing board games with friends. My friends and I may even have the bright idea of having a 24-hour Harry Potter marathon just for the hell of it. This is a part of who I am and if you can’t live with it, you don’t deserve to be in my life, much less be loved by me.

Neither do I tolerate the fact that you judge my nerd-friends and me because we are not afraid of showing who we are. So, if you can’t not judge us, you ain’t welcome.

On the other hand, if you love me for the nerd that I am, you are golden. I will appreciate all the things that make you you, so I would hope you would do the same.

10 Things That Make Me Happy

    1. My family

I love my family. No matter how much I say I dislike them at the moment, I know they love me and I hope they love me. Their happiness makes me happy. Even just talking to them can brighten up my day. Just as well as it can also make my day worse. Sometimes I can’t stand them, but all the same, I love them and they make me really happy.

    2. My friends

My friends, like my family can sometimes drive me absolutely mental. However, they are the people that also make me smile and laugh when I think I can’t. Without my friends I would be lonely and I am eternally thankful for meeting each and every one of them. They know I am obnoxious, loud and don’t care what other people think about me and yet they still tolerate me and my nerdy fangirling.

    3. Tintti (My cat)

She’s the most precious little furball there ever was. She’s also my first pet, so she will always have a special place in my heart. She turns 9 this year and I have loved all my years with her and will love all the years I yet have with her. I may not have her with me where I live because I live in a student house that does not allow pets. Plus, she would NOT appreciate the 8+ hour train/bus ride it takes to get to my hometown from here. The distance makes the time I have with her whenever I visit my parents all the more precious.

    4. Knitting and Crocheting

Like most people know, I love handcrafts, but especially knitting and crochet. There is always new things to learn and new patterns to try. Plus, whenever I give something I’ve made by my own hands to a friend or a family member, it fills me with joy and pride when they love whatever I have made. And it is the best way for me to be creative besides writing.

    5. Writing

Just like handcrafts, writing is something I do to be creative. I love to write and whether it is a blog post, just for my own amusement or fanfiction, writing always gives me some piece of mind. It is a way for me to deal with my emotions and feelings. My writing usually reflects my state of mind when I’m writing. Or then I just have an inspiration that I am afraid I’ll lose if I don’t write it down somewhere. Other people’s feedback and comments on my writing always make me happy.

    6. Music

Music is one of those things that reflects my mood. When I’m happy, I listen to happy music and when I’m sad I listen to sad music. When I am angry or frustrated at or because of something or someone I listen to what I like to call “örinämusaa”. Basically it is music that reflects my state of mind either by the melody or the lyrics, more often than not both. Bands such as Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin are some of my go-to’s when I’m in this sort of mood. However, music also has the ability to make me smile. Sometimes when I’m sad, I’ll listen to a song I love and I feel a lot better instantly.

    7. Nature

I love nature. Some may say I’m a nature hippie and that might be true. While I have lived in a city my whole life, my grandparents lived, and my grandmother still lives, in the country side. Their home is right beside a river and a forest. When I was a child I always loved visiting my grandparents because I got to run around in nature. Nowadays walking in the forest right behind my grandmother’s house makes me feel connected not only to nature, but to my late grandfather. Being in nature calms me and I love the sights and sounds of a forest or running water. If I could, I would live somewhere surrounded by nature with as many animals as I could gather.

    8. Animals

I love animals. No animal is too big or too scary to me. My friends find endless amount in the excitement I show when I talk about animals or even visit a zoo with countless animals. While I like people, I simply adore animals. They offer you companionship without the stress of having to be pleasant all the time. I guess that’s just the antisocial me talking but I prefer the company of animals to people. They don’t judge me and I don’t have to pretend to be something I am not to them.

    9. Binge-watching anime

I love anime and binge watching is something I usually do with a dear friend of mine. We usually just sit and watch anime for hours and talk nonsense and knit or crochet. It’s awesome.

    10.Books

I love books. I have so many and I can’t get enough. I am an avid reader and I try to read pretty much everything but I love Detective stories and Fantasy. Whenever I get my hands on a new book I just shiver with anticipation of the adventures the book will take me on.

Here is my tired studypartner. I’m studying for the entrance exams to study biology in university and my beloved studypartner decided that my biology dictionary is the best pillow ever. 😀
Or maybe she’s trying to tell me that I study too hard and need to spend some time petting her 🙂 Anyway, she doesn’t look like she’s gonna move so I’ll have to make do with something else to read.

Little guys at the work place

I’ve been working at a local farm this summer and there’s been a lot of little bugs and other animals around. Here’s some pictures I’ve taken with my phone:

My morals

My morals, I’m not quite sure where they come from. Sure, some of them come from my family. Like, you have to treat people right. And my work morals are from my parents too. Violence is not an option, when it comes to either people or animals..

But there are also many things that I haven’t learned from my family, because I don’t have their morals in some topics. Or perhaps I’ve learned from them to be more tolerable than them.

I believe that you shouldn’t judge a person too quickly or because of their appearance or stuff like that. If someone doesn’t look like every other person, that’s not a bad thing. If someone has different skin color from mine, that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends, or that they are less of a person than I am. The fact that someone is a gypsy, they’re not a thief. If someone is gay, lesbian, bi or transsexual, that doesn’t make them any less valuable or somehow disgusting. I try not to be prejudiced. That’s one of my morals I’ve learned to be better at than my family. I don’t judge people because of their race, religion, sexual orientation or any of that superficial stuff, but for the person they are.

If people believe in different things than I do, I don’t hate them. I always try to understand their side of things, and why they might think differently from me. I don’t have to be friends with everybody, and I won’t be friends with people who’s opinions in the world conflict with mine too much, but I’ll still tolerate them and try to understand why they think so.

However, the morals I value most of all in my list of morals, have to do with animals and nature. I think we humans have a moral responsibility to take care of the animals and plants around us. I’ve always cared more about animals than people. That’s because most of the time their suffering isn’t because of them, but because of us humans, and they can’t do anything about it. I hold the animals around us as(if not more) dear as humans. This is the most important moral of mine. If someone clashes too much with this, I will not like them. We will not be friends. I may not even tolerate a person who is too open about not caring about animals or the nature around us.

I can tolerate someone having different religion, different race, different sexual orientation or stuff like that. But I WILL NOT tolerate a person who doesn’t give a rat’s ass about animals or the environment. That just shows what kinda person they are, and it’s not a very nice person, so why should I tolerate someone like that?

That’s my morals.
